The 2020 Olympic program will include a maximum of 28 sports but not wrestling. On February 12, 2013, IOC (International Olympic Committee) leaders voted to drop wrestling from the Olympic program, a surprise decision that removes one of the oldest Olympic sports from the 2020 Games. Wrestling, which combines freestyle and Greco-Roman events, goes back to the Ancient Greek Olympics.Wrestling will now join seven other sports in applying for inclusion in 2020. At the 125th IOC Session, the IOC will vote to include one of the following sports in the program: baseball/softball, karate, roller sports, sport climbing, squash, wakeboarding, wrestling or wushu. Personally, I was surprised, but though I never even watched wrestling before on the Olympics, I can't say I'm disappointed.
