Many people, especially if you're a fisherman, will argue with this point. "Sure, we're fishing a lot, but it's also cause we need the money", could be a main point in the argument about fishing but the fact is, that we are over fishing. The journal Science published a four-year study in November 2006, which predicted that, at prevailing trends, the world would run out of wild-caught seafood in 2048. That's crazy! This affects sea creatures in so many ways and in so many ways, we don't need the food at all, in fact, worldwide, fishing fleets are two to three times as large as needed to take present day catches of fish and other marine species and as what our oceans can sustainably support. On a global scale we have enough fishing capacity to cover at least four Earth like planets.
