Syrian Civil War: The conflict began on 15 March 2011 with nationwide demonstrations, as part of the wider protest movement known as the Arab Spring, leading Syria into a Civil war. Protesters demanded the resignation of President Bashar al-Assad, the present personification of his family's decades-long rule, as well as the end to nearly five decades of Ba'ath Party rule. In April 2011, the Syrian Army was deployed to quell the uprising and soldiers were ordered to open fire on demonstrators. After months of military sieges, the protests evolved into an armed rebellion. Opposition forces, mainly composed of defected soldiers and civilian volunteers, became increasingly armed and organized as they unified into larger groups, with some groups receiving military aid from several foreign countries. This is still ongoing today and on 2 January 2013, the United Nations stated that the war's death toll had exceeded 60,000. According to various opposition activist groups, between 50,000 and 63,735 people have been killed,of which about half were civilians, but also including 26,110–27,900 armed combatants consisting of both the Syrian Army and rebel forces, up to 2,505 opposition protesters, and 1,000 government officials.By October 2012, up to 28,000 people had been reported missing, including civilians forcibly abducted by government troops or security forces.According to the UN, about 1.2 million Syrians have been displaced within the country and to escape the violence, hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees have fled to neighboring countries. In addition, tens of thousands of protesters have been imprisoned and there were reports of widespread torture and psychological terror in state prisons, thus leading to an accusation made by International organizations, accusing the government and Shabiha of severe human rights violations. This war is not commonly known and the death tolls are going higher and higher even as you are reading this. This can be acclaimed for the lack of media coverage and the censorship coming from the Syrian government. Some journalists had been reported to have gone missing, been detained, been tortured in custody, or worse, been killed on duty. International media have relied heavily on footage shot by civilians, who would often upload the files on the internet.

April 15, 2013 Boston Bombing: Two explosions in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, near the finish line of the 2013 Boston Marathon leave 3 people dead and 183 injured. This day is actually Patriot's Day (The first battle in the Revolutionary War) as well as Tax Day. On top of that, the 26th mile in the marathon is dedicated to the children murdered at Newtown, Connecticut shooting. Some of the runners were the parents of the deceased children. The U.S. FBI later recovers forensic evidence suggesting the two explosive devices which exploded near the finish line were pressure cooker bombs, placed inside heavy black nylon bags containing shrapnel -- homemade bombs
The 1953 Armistice Treaty is shredded by North Korea, is it possible for another Korean War? Or is Kim Jung-un's threat just empty? Some people don't even take him seriously, especially after his threat to target George W. Bush's home state of Texas since Bush claimed during his presidency that North Korea was an "Axis of Evil". South Korea and the US have signed an agreement to counter prov-actions from North Korea and so far, more than 40,000 US and South Korean troops combined are currently conducting military maneuvers on the Korean Peninsula as US bombers, fighter air-crafts, and submarines make their way to the region. Even so, many Americans feel that North Korea doesn't have the technology to create an full-scale battle with the US quite yet. North Korea plans to start it's "attack" with US's military bases on Japan and Guam which seems very quite likely at this moment. Unfortunately, we can just keep waiting to see North Korea's next move.
Clean Water: World Water Day is coming up March 22, 2013 so I might as well do a snippet about water. More than one billion people lack the source of clean, safe drinking water and the lack of clean water and access to it, kills 3.4 million people each year! As well 800 million people on the planet drink water that's likely to make them sick--that's 1 in 9 of us. Thankfully, we can help (of course, we can always help)! These are some awesome websites that allow you to be apart of something. Just click on them and they are automatically hyper-linked to the page. Of course, you don't have to donate or give money, just spread the world and educate those around you. http://www.washadvocates.org/

http://thewaterproject.org/ http://www.unwater.org/water-cooperation-2013/home http://waterday.org/ http://www.charitywater.org/ http://humankindwater.org/ Is it wrong to feed animals? Yes, it is, and it's no joke. Feeding some animals can even be illegal! Though on the other hand, feeding local pigeons, ducks, squirrels, etc, is okay. When is it not okay? It's when the animals that you are feeding happen to be wild, and by that, I mean, not normally fed by humans. Once feed, they can get particularly aggressive or invasive, in attempts to get more food from humans. Additionally, we often feed the animals wrong things in which they aren't supposed to eat. In Alaska, a bear has to be euthanized when fed by humans lest they start attacking humans in attempts to get more food.
